Basic machines in opencast mining industry belong to the largest mobile machines – as a rule they are long-lasting and their mechanisms can be and are exchanged and modernized during the maintenance while the steel bearing structure practically is not modernized for its construction.

The increased durability of the bearing structure has a crucial meaning for the durability of the whole machine, which can be obtained only as its entire or partial replacement.



All the up-to-now modernized machines had their primary drive mechanisms replaced with such that meet the standards for new machines, which as a consequence leads to a considerable increase in the exploitation efficiency and the reduction of maintenance costs. Electrical and electronic parts of the modernized machines are completely new – corresponding to the newest standards in this field.

The safety level achieved as a result of such a comprehensive modernization meets current norms and regulations in this aspect.

For the last several years the technology of manufacturing modern steel bearing machine structures has been largely developed and improved. It enables the classification of bucket wheel extension arms, masts, strands, etc. as replaceable elements just like the mechanisms.

The acquired designing, research and implementation experience enable us to generalize that the replacement of design and construction drawbacks in the main bearing structure of the undercarriage as well as the replacement of the carriage steel structure with a new one, with high probability, will result in the increase in the exploitation durability of 30-year-old machines by further 25 years.
